Monthly hive dive at member‘s apiary.
The Lafayette Community Garden and Outdoor Learning Center 3932 Mount Diablo Blvd. Lafayette, CA
Our colonies our growing, and the bees are making plenty of honey. During our May Deep Dive and Learn at the MDBA Apiary, we’ll check on colony growth and evaluate whether we need to add supers. Unfortunately, as colony population grows, the number of mites can grow as well. To get an accurate sense of our current mite levels in the colonies and manage this issue, we’ll conduct mite counts and discuss management/treatment options.
During this hands-on hive dive, participants will have the opportunity to conduct basic hive inspections and learn how to test for varroa mites.
Register online by logging-in to the website, clicking on “Event Calendar”, click on the May 10th Beehive Deep Dive & Learn event link, and then the “Register Now” button (on the right side of the webpage). Please note, you must be logged-in to the MDBA website under your account ("Member Login") to complete attendance registration.
