Guest Speaker: Dr. Brian Johnson, “Division of Labor in Honey Bees”

Please join us for the July General Meeting. Dr. Brian Johnson, who spoke to the club about Varroa in May, returns in July for a detailed presentation on temporal polyethism, the age-based division of labor system found in honey bee colonies.

Dr. Brian Johnson is a professor in the Department of Entomology and Nematology at the University of California, Davis, and author of the book Honey Bee Biology. He has conducted postdoctoral research at the University of California, San Diego, and at the University of California, Berkeley. He earned his PhD under the supervision of Thomas Seeley at Cornell University. Dr. Johnson conducts research mainly on division of labor in bees, and the evolutionary genetics of social evolution.
